DX Shawn Michaels Entrance DX was officially formed on 20th September 1997 at the One Night Only pay-per-view in Birmingham, England. It was during the genesis of what would become the WWF's highly successful "Attitude Era" in the latter half of 1997. Real-life friends and reported Clique members Shawn Michaels and Hunter Hearst Helmsley (who began being known simply as Triple H) were the original two members, along with Helmsley's bodyguard, Chyna, and Michaels' "insurance policy", Rick Rude. Triple H and Michaels united after Michaels turned heel after hitting The Undertaker with a chair at SummerSlam 1997. Initially getting together as allies aiding Michaels in his sunsequent feud with the Undertaker as a result of Summerslam '97, DX officially got together at the One Night Only pay-per-view in Birmingham, England when Helmsley, Chyna and Rude helped Michaels win the WWF European Championship from British Bulldog.

D-Generation X (commonly known as DX) is an on and off professional wrestling tag team (formerly a stable) wrestling for World Wrestling Entertainment.

The group originated in the midst of the WWF's "Attitude Era" from 1997 to 2000 and helped change the face of sports entertainment. Their gimmick was that of a group of rebels who did and said what they wanted, no matter how provocative. DX is generally considered one of the most popular stables in pro wrestling history.

After its original run, the group underwent several roster changes, and disbanded in 1999. After a brief reunion in 2000, and a teased reunion in 2002, DX re-formed in June 2006 as the duo of Triple H and Shawn Michaels, until Triple H's quadricep injury at New Year's Revolution 2007. After Triple H returned from injury in 2007, he and Michaels have teamed together as DX sporadically.

Shawn Michaels returned on the June 12 edition of Raw and soon reunited with Triple H to reform D-Generation X, turning Triple H face once again. DX defeated the Spirit Squad at Vengeance in a 5-on-2 handicap match. continued their feud with Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon and the Spirit Squad for several weeks. They then defeated the Spirit Squad again at Saturday Night's Main Event in a 5-on-2 Elimination match. They then again defeated the McMahons at SummerSlam, withstanding the attack of several handpicked WWE superstars by Vince McMahon. At Unforgiven, D-Generation X overcame the odds once again, defeating The McMahons and ECW World Champion Big Show in a Hell in a Cell match. During the match, DX embarrassed Vince by shoving his face in between the Big Show's buttocks, and DX won when Triple H broke a sledgehammer over the shoulders of Vince McMahon after Michaels performed Sweet Chin Music on him.
